March 2010
Is it Spring yet? It’s hard to believe that it is March already. This year is going by extremely quickly. We are having a great year!
The country Expo was a great success. I hope some of you had a chance to see the student’s displays and try some of the great food. They all did an awesome job. I was very proud of them.
In Math we are working on one and two step Algebra equations. We are going to start working with integers next. Math help is still being held every Friday at 8:00am.
We will be finishing up our unit on life science over the next few weeks. We will be completing a lab on blood transfusions. I am focusing on the scientific method so that the children can become familiar with it when writing up labs.
Religion finds us still in the Old Testament. We have finished our discussion about Moses and have moved onto the Promised Land. We will also take some time to discuss Lent and Holy Week. We will be celebrating Mass with our second grade buddies and also participating in the Stations of the Cross prayer service with them.
Verbs have been the topic in English. We are also still diagramming sentences. The students are getting very good at it.
We started a new book in Reading. A View from Saturday is a realistic fiction novel. It is about a group of 6th grader in an academic bowl.
Sincerely, Mrs. Noyes
